Color result for circular pattern on 250 pins.
Upload a clear portrait image and position the face inside the circular preview. For the best color string art result, the face should be large and fill most of the frame. This generator creates a thread pattern, not a photograph, so small faces, tiny details, and low-contrast images are difficult to reproduce with real string.
The application uses a CMYK thread model with Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black threads. Start with the Classic preset for a balanced result, or choose Vibrant for stronger color and contrast. After changing the number of threads, thread opacity, target contrast, black bias, color strength, line visibility, density penalty, or K-factor, click Generate Color Pattern to rebuild the portrait.
If the image looks pale, increase the number of threads or target contrast. If the result becomes too dense or foggy, reduce thread opacity, color visibility, or density buildup. Black thread controls the shadows and structure of the portrait, while the color thread settings control how saturated the final string art preview appears.
After generation, the Thread Mix section shows the estimated total thread length and the approximate length needed for each color. The current pattern is designed for a round 46 cm frame with 250 pins. Use these values as a practical guide when preparing thread spools for your physical string art portrait.
Use Download PDF to save the ordered pin route for the generated portrait. Each line in the instruction tells you which pin to start from and which pin to move to, for example Cyan: 12 -> 184. Use Download Video if you want a visual build animation that shows the thread pattern appearing step by step.
Prepare a circular frame with exactly 250 pins and a 46 cm working diameter. Pin number 0 should be placed at the top of the frame, at the 12 o'clock position, with the pin numbers increasing clockwise. Do not use a frame with a different number of pins for the same PDF instruction, because the generated route depends on the exact pin count.
Open and print the A4 tiled frame template before making the board. It splits the full-size 50 x 50 cm template into six landscape A4 pages, with a centered 46 cm circle, 250 evenly spaced pin marks, labels on every tenth pin, and stronger marks on every fifth pin. Print every page at Actual Size / 100%, then assemble the sheets like a puzzle.
Open A4 tiled frame template PDFAttach the current thread color to the first pin shown in the instruction, pull the thread across the frame to the next pin, then continue following the ordered route. When the color changes, secure the current thread with a small knot and start the next color from the indicated pin. Work slowly, keep the thread tension consistent, and compare the physical portrait with the preview as the image develops.
